Make-upproducts I regret buying

Today, I’m talking about some make-upproducts I regret buying. I’ve gathered a couple of products together that I thought were very beautiful in the beginning, but I have never actually used them. In this blogpost I will tell you why I never use them!

I have to say that these are all my own opinions. When I don’t like a product, it isn’t necessarily a bad product. It just doesn’t work for me, but it could work for you! I do feel very sad I dislike these products, because I paid I lot of money for some of them.

NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in Tokyo

Don’t get me wrong, I love the formula of the soft matte lip creams, but this color is horrible. When I bought it, I thought it would be a pretty nude/pink kind of color. I was wrong, it is a very very light color and I look very sick when I use this product. My skin is already very pale, so it’s kind of weird for me that this lipcolor is making me look sick because it’s so light.

Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Luminizer Strobing Pen in 010 Sleeping Beauty’s Rose

When I bought this, I thought that this highlighter would look very good as a base under my powder highlighter. I think, if you use this correctly, and your skin isn’t as terrible as mine, it could look good as a base, but for me, it looks very ugly. First of all, applying this isn’t the easiest thing, because the product ‘dries down’ very quickly. (which means that you can only use your fingers to apply it, because the product needs the warmth of it to blend it out nicely) After applying it, I can really see it ‘sitting on my face’. It doesn’t look iridescent or natural at all. When you put a (translucent) facepowder on top of it, you don’t even see it at all. Too bad!

Wet n Wild Eyeshadow Palette in (E737) Blue had me at Hello

When I bought it, I know it would be a very risky/bold palette. I really wanted to wear more blue eyeshadow, because I thought it would look nice in comparison with my eye color. I think, it could look very good on some people, but not on me. Every time I use this palette, it looks like someone punched me in the eye. These eyeshadows blend too well. (yes, that is possible haha) That’s why it doesn’t look like an eye-look anymore, it just looks like a blue haze, which is not so pretty. There are also a lot of colors in this palette that look the same.

Too Faced Funfetti Eyeshadow Palette

This is the first Too Faced product I bought and I am very disappointed in this one. It does look very pretty on the picture, right? I think so too, but there is literally no way that you could make an eyelook with this palette. The 3 colors on the right look the same, there is no (matte) transition color, the colors blend to well and a lot of the colors aren’t very pigmented. I’m so disappointed, because this palette was so expensive!

I hope you learned something from this blogpost and that you liked reading this! Do you sometimes regret buying some products? Annoying, right? Let me know which products you regret buying in the comments down below!

Much love, Anne

  1. Love reading these types of posts! I also regret getting my Too Faced palette, I was really disappointed with the quality which there are no excuses for at their price point when you can get drug store palettes with better quality.

    1. Totally agree with you! I really wanted to buy a Too Faced product, and this palette looked so good in the store. I was just so disappointed when I came home! 🙁 Which Too Faced palette do you regret buying?

  2. I can relate to this! Sometimes a product can be amazing, but it doesn’t necessarily work for you. I’ve got a few NYX lipsticks where the colour was wrong for me too 😥

    1. Always said when a very popular products doesn’t work for you! The pain is real haha, glad you can relate as well 🙂

    1. I totally agree! It looks super pretty but it just looks like someone punched me in the eye when I use it (but it could also be my bad make-up skills, I don’t know haha)
